Katy Perry holds Rihanna off US top spot

Katy Perry has continued her reign atop the Billboard singles chart with 'E.T.'

The track, which features Kanye West for its radio release, fends off competition from Rihanna, who remains at number two with 'S&M'.

Meanwhile, Black Eyed Peas advance from five to three with 'Just Can't Get Enough', Jeremih and 50 Cent's 'Down On Me' jumps from nine to seven, and Adele's 'Rolling In The Deep' leaps from 17 to ten after ten weeks on the tally.

Further down the chart, Britney Spears jumps from 22 to 13 with 'Till The World Ends', Tinie Tempah's 'Written In The Stars' vaults from 27 to 19, and Pitbull's 'Give Me Everything' featuring Ne-Yo lands at 60.
Spears features again at 73 with Femme Fatale album track 'I Wanna Go', while LMFAO re-enter at 88 with 'Party Rock Anthem'.

Hubby tops Katy Perry's priority list

For singer Katy Perry, her husband, comedian Russell Brand tops her priority list. She says she has begun to feel a connection with Britons thanks to him.
"My husband is my number one priority. We have an amazing relationship," Perry was quoted as saying by contactmusic.

The singer is learning British slangs from Brand, whom she married in a ceremony in India last October.

"Russell's teaching me British slang and phrases now. I say, 'I'm dining out on that one mate', and say 'bin' instead of 'trash' and 'holiday' instead of 'vacation'. I feel a connection to British people because of my husband. I could be left alone in Britain and get on OK."

Katy Perry, Rihanna Urged To Cover Up By Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani has urged her fellow female pop stars to stop stripping off and showing so much skin in order to promote their music.

The No Doubt singer revealed her thoughts on the current state of pop in an interview with Elle, saying: "I usually put pants on. I see these girls as more going for the sex-symbol thing. I was more, in the band, like a tomboy".

Speaking about pop music in general 'What You Waiting For' star Gwen said she likes the music but worries that it has become too disposable, saying:

"Like a guilty pleasure, it’s right at the moment. It’s like fashion—it’s now, then it’s gone."What do you think about Gwen's comments? Should the girls cover up more or is it their right to show iff if they're proud?

Katy Perry does her Only Way Is Essex impression and defends Cheryl Cole!

See, cool and bree-zee. Anyway to get us in the mood for the Pezster we’ve been looking at videos of her tour and our favourite is definitely the jukebox game!

Check out Katy convincing the audience to give her a quid, doing her Only Way Is Essex impression and telling the audience off for booing Cheryl Cole

How funny was that? We’re excited and in love with Katy… Probably not as much as she is with Cheryl “oi, oi, oi, oi, OI OI”, but still.

Have you seen Katy Perry on her UK tour, love her as much as we do, or even Russell does?

Katy Perry rumoured to appear at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

FASHION insiders are abuzz with talk Katy Perry may make an appearance at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week next month.

The singer, who has just been announced as the new global face of ghd, will arrive in Sydney on May 3 ahead of her performance at the Entertainment Centre the following night.

With the hair-care brand sponsoring a bunch of designers, there's talk the star may grace a front row or two.

"Her schedule is quite intense but if she gets some free time she's considering dropping by," said a source.

One star who will attend the industry event is British '80s supermodel Yasmin Le Bon, who will join friend Gail Elliott at the model-turned-designer's Little Joe fashion show. Word is the 46-year-old wife of Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon, could also be hitting the catwalk. There's always a huge buzz as to whether an international star will grace the front rows at RAFW. Some years have delivered great talent such as Dita Von Teese and Mischa Barton, and others, well, haven't.

Fashion purists argue that it's not about the celebrities, but you can bet if someone like Perry shows up to a designer's show the global publicity will be absolutely priceless.

Katy Perry Flies To See Russell Brand After Movie Is Panned

Katy Perry has flown to her husband Russell Brand's side in New York after his performance in the re-make of the Dudley Moore classic, Arthur was widely panned by film critics.

Katy flew out from Glasgow where she is currently performing on her California Dreams world tour and the pair were spotted walking into a hotel in the city after Russell picked her up from the hotel.

Russell had walked the red carpet of the film's première on his own earlier this week and Katy tweeted her husband of five-months, writing: “I can't wait to see you... As #ARTHUR! @rustyrockets hope it's all going amazing!,”But things haven't be going 'amazing' for the 35-year-old comedian as his role in the movie has come under fire with critics suggesting the movie will be the “nail in the coffin” of his acting career.

Film critic Marshall Fine wrote a scathing review for the Huffington Post which said: “If anything, this movie should put a nail in the coffin of Russell Brand's career as a movie comic because, well, the guy's just not that funny.

“Particularly not when he assays an entire role in that high, whiny, little-boy voice that he uses here.”

He added: “I've seen him do stand-up and that didn't make me laugh. He's really only amusing in small doses.”

The harsh criticism will come as a blow to Russell who was a great fan of Dudley Moore. Let's hope Katy is making him feel better.

Katy Perry Saved Russell Brand’s Life

Katy Perry can add life saver to her growing list of accomplishments.

In a new interview with USA Today, former bad boy Russell Brand says that despite what people assume he really is “very happily married.”

Why, exactly, would people be doubting Katy’s ability to make him settle down?

If any of you have read Russell’s Booky Wook you know what kind of troubles, girls and drugs he used to get into. In fact, in 2006 The Sun names Brand “Shagger of the Year.” But now? Russell is tamed and couldn’t be happier!

“I love it,” Brand says about being married to Perry. “It’s such an emotional storm. It’s such an incredible intervention in my life. Since then, it’s been remarkably normal and real and gentle and loving. That’s why this film is so pertinent to me at this time. It made it easy for me to accept I could meet someone and change my objectives.”

In Russell’s new flick Arthur he plays a boozing playboy who eventually finds the right girl. “I’m such a thorough actor that I did two decades of research just to make sure it was 100% right.”

Well, we’re sure he and Katy are 100% right! Since they are both constantly working, Russell says they plan dates months in advance and stick to it. Any suggestions Celebuzz readers what their next one should be?

Katy Perry's excited about space trip

Singer Katy Perry is "really excited" about the prospect of heading into space with her husband Russell Brand as she counts down the days until the couple's shuttle trip.

The "I Kissed a Girl" hitmaker bought her funnyman partner a seat on one of Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic space tourism flights for his 35th birthday last year and she is planning to go with him.

Katy Perry has admitted she loves seeing her audience

The singer, who plays her final UK date at London's Wembley Arena tomorrow (09.04), also said she is happy her fans are able to personally relate to her songs.

'Sometimes I see all kinds of emotions, it's a lot of emotion,' she told MTV News.

'It's lovely, too, because I love people that are passionate about life and music in general,' she continued.

'That's why I write a lot of times - to continue to evolve as a person, and I can see the same thing has happened with other people; they've just adopted the song for themselves.'

Katy Perry tried to blow up Troy Tulowitzki's season

Troy Tulowitzki isn't known for his Aprils. Or rather, he is known for his Aprils. He's known for sucking in them.

Over the past few years, the Colorado Rockies' $134 million Gold Glove-winning All-Star shortstop has looked like a Little Leaguer through the first month of the season -- a mystery that was getting more and more frustrating.

As CBSSports.com writer Scott Miller wrote in a column just before the season started, "...nearly every year, April is Lucy yanking the football away from Tulowitzki's flailing Charlie Brown. His lifetime numbers in the season's first month are among the worst in the game for players with at least 1,650 plate appearances..."This year began the exact same way: Going 0 for 8 in his first two games, Tulo was sorely lacking in fireworks. Though not in "Firework" -- as in the Katy Perry radio mainstay that Tulo was using this year as his home-game walk-up song.

And that appears to have been the problem. During the third game of the season, Tulo switched to Justin Beiber's "Baby," which had been the runner-up in a contest that let fans choose his walk-up song. He immediately hit a home run.

And he's now hit homers in three straight games.

So be gone Katy Perry, you teenage dream. Bieber's flowers bring April powers.

Lupe's "Airplanes" Demo With Hayley Williams Leaks

While B.o.B turned "Airplanes" into a smash hit, Lupe Fiasco had originally cut his own track using the now-ubiquitous hook by Paramore's Hayley Williams -- it has just leaked online and you can hear it now (via Some Kind of Awesome).

Hear Lupe Fiasco's version of "Airplanes (feat. Hayley Williams)"

Lupe's demo, which was intended for his album Lasers, doesn't differ too radically from Bobby Ray's version: Williams' vocal contributions are exactly the same, and the symphonic, piano-powered instrumentation is intact. Still, it's interesting to hear the lyrical differences: Lupe tells a story of two lovers who are surviving an apocalyptic nightmare, while B.o.B uses the track as a springboard for rapping about his sudden rise to success.

This isn't the first time Fiasco, who butted heads over the release of Lasers with his label Atlantic, has recorded demos that were later used by fellow artists on his label. The rapper originally cut a version of "Nothin' on You," later turned into a smash hit by B.o.B and Bruno Mars.

Paramore - William's Conflict Over Cosmo Cover

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams had mixed feelings about posing for the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine after spending years trying to avoid the spotlight at the start of her career.
The rocker hesitated before agreeing to be the publication's cover girl because she hasn't always felt comfortable embracing her sexy side. But after donning a glamorous dress for her solo shoot, Williams insists she's embracing her "powerful female" role.

In a post on the band's blog, the star writes, "I wanna talk about the Cosmo cover... as much as I tell myself I don't care and I wear whatever I want... there will always be those moments when I'm at the check out line at (U.S. retailer) Target and I see some gorgeous person on the cover of any ol (sic) rag... and I'm like 'Ugh, is that how it's gotta be!?' only to realise that... next month, that girl on the cover is gonna be me. What a hypocrite right?!?!
"Noooo. Here's the thing. My #1 (number one) goal when the band began was to make myself invisible... I've turned down a lot of magazine covers. I specifically remember turning down Blender mag when I turned 19. No one ever knew.

It never made people focus on me any less... So this time I'm taking a different approach. All three of us in Paramore have our own roles. And finally I will accept mine. I'm going to be okay with being a 'powerful female'. I'm going to use that role to make a difference."

The singer admits the experience was liberating, and she hopes the cover will inspire her fans to feel good about themselves, too.

She adds, "I'm hoping that the more a magazine will take a chance on a girl like me, the more a girl will have a frickin chance in hell to be unique, powerful, strong in her weaknesses, confident in her flaws."

Paramore Spill Details On Mystery Studio Session

Hayley Williams of Paramore tweeted hints that the four tracks they recorded this month weren't set for an album or EP, but would all be released. So what are they for?

We all love news from the studio. When Paramore singer Hayley Williams recently tweeted about heading back to the studio, our response was that they could be preparing for a new release, perhaps as demo recordings or even final album tracks.

But Twitter has since revealed more specific details about the purpose of the studio session. Yesterday, Hayley tweeted that she was doing final vocal takes on the current batch of songs:

"Last time I'll be in the vocal booth til it's time to make a real full length @paramore album. But these songs should tie you over til then!" She then told This Is Hell frontman Travis Reilly that they had recorded "just 4 random songs we wrote. We are gonna release all of em but not as an EP", raising questions over what format the band plan to release the new tracks.

Should we expect a set of download-only singles? Perhaps a couple are already earmarked for film soundtracks? There's no indication for now, but Hayley is clearly happy with the result:

"Listened to some of the new songs in the car on the way home! So happy!! Such a creative and totally inspiring week and a half. Wanna say thanks so much to our fans for keeping us motivated the last few months... we can't wait to share some new music with you".

Hayley Williams says the band are recording in Los Angeles

Paramore singer Hayley Williams has revealed that she, guitarist Taylor York and bassist Jeremy Davis are recording new material this week (beginning March 21).

Williams tweeted the news from Twitter.com/yelyahwilliams, explaining that the trio were working on the songs in Los Angeles.

"Just got a call from @itstayloryall [York]," she wrote. "He and @schzimmydeanie [Davis] just touched down in LA! We're recording a couple new songs this week!"The new songs will be the first the band have recorded since the departure of founder members Josh and Zac Farro last December.

The band debuted a new song, 'In The Mourning', in February live in Brazil.

Hayley Williams reveals.

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has revealed that the band are recording material for their new album this week (March 21).

The singer said the band will start recording new material in LA this week.

Hayley Williams revealed the news over her Twitter: ''Just got a call from @itstayloryall [York]," she wrote. "He and @schzimmydeanie [Davis] just touched down in LA! We're recording a couple new songs this week!"

The songs will be the band's first since Zac and Josh Farro quit the group at the end of last year.
Meanwhile, Paramore's Hayley Williams and Katy Perry are among the music stars who have expressed their sadness following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

We cannot wait to hear this!

We make no secret of the fact that we want to be Paramore’s Hayley Williams, as we reckon she is quite possibly one of the coolest girls around.

Now her amazingness is getting a nod of appreciation from elsewhere in the music biz as Hayley has appeared on hip hop star’s B.o.B’s track Airplanes (Part II) alongside Eminem – how cool is that?!

Hayley, bless her, isn’t doing that whole irritating playing it cool thing and pretending it’s not a big deal (we can’t stand that), she’s over the moon at being able to be on the same song as the rap “genius”!She told MTV News: “I was given the track a while ago when we were on tour. The guys and I all loved it. They told me I was crazy if I passed it up. I liked the part too much anyways, so of course I was down. I found out about Eminem getting on the track like a month ago. As if this song could get any better. He just slays me, he’s such a genius.”

The rock chick also revealed that she is actually a big hip hop fan. She said: “Whether our fans know it or not, I’m not sure, but (Paramore bassist) Jeremy and I have always been really into hip hop. I’m a big B.o.B fan. Got everything of his that I can lay my hands on… It means a lot to collaborate with a hip hop artist who is from Atlanta. We Southern gals love us some Southern gentlemen.”

We wonder if this could mean a new direction for Paramore’s next album… Though somehow we can’t quite see it!

The track will appear on B.oB.’s album The Adventures Of Bobby Ray which is out April 27.

Are you looking forward to hearing a slightly different side to Hayley? Who else would you love to see her team up with? Comments here please!

We love this cool cover!

Paramore singer Hayley Williams is so cool. Not only does she front a totally amazing band, proving that girls do in fact ROCK, she has now taken her levels of cool to Ga-gantic proportions (you’ll see what we did there in just a sec).

We have found this video of Hayley sitting down at her piano and giving the ol’ ivories a tinkle to Bad Romance

Rebecca Black is literally everywhere.

Hayley Williams thinks Rebecca Black is 'really cute', and absent mindedly starts singing the epic song that is Friday during a Paramore live UStream.

The band are currently in a studio in LA working on some new material, and streamed live footage of themselves larking around for 8 hours for their fans.

They sang some awesome covers, played some games, and Hayley fell asleep. It was intense.

Paramore Get To Work On New Album

Pop-punk sensation Paramore are in the studio working on their fourth album.

The band recently dumped (or lost, depending on who you believe) their guitarist and drummer brothers Josh and Zac Farro, but being a three-piece hasn’t stopped them getting back to work.

Paramore’s guitarist Taylor York recently tweeted, “Good afternoon (or whatever time of day it is wherever you may be). Day number 2 of recording. Super stoked. Sounding good! Yeahyeahyeahyeah.”

York is also tracking drums for the album, with singer Hayley Williams tweeting her amazement “He never told us how great he was!”

They’re working with Rob Cavallo, who produced their last album, 2009’s Brand New Eyes.

And they have also been added to the next Warped Tour in the US.

Hayley Williams Covers ‘Cosmopolitan’

irey-haired Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams is Cosmo's latest cover girl. The photogenic, pint-sized pop rocker sports a sassy strapless blue polka-dot dress for the mag's May issue (which hits stands April 12th). Inside, the "In The Mourning" singer opens up about being bullied in school, her band's regrouping and being completely comfortable in her own skin. Check out the Grammy nominee's spring spread and tell us which ensemble Hayley rocked the hardest.

Rihanna's Rolling Stone Stylist Reveals the Concept Behind the Cover

Stylist B. Akerlund had never worked with Rihanna before she got the assignment to choose her outfits for the current issue of Rolling Stone – but she immediately had some ideas. "Her people told me the direction that we were going was if Kid Rock and Rihanna had a baby," she tells Rolling Stone. "So I tried to think of things she hadn't done. And everyone kept on saying super sexy, super sexy, and I'm like, okay, I'll give you sexy."

The result was a cover shot of Rihanna wearing a pair of barely-there, torn metallic shorts with a Levi's logo on the back, a midriff-baring white tank top and a red bandanna tied around her wrist. But it was the shorts that had everyone talking. Or as Popdust put it: "Rihanna is sporting a revolutionary booty-flaunting garment that’s part shorts, part apron and part nothing."
Akerlund commissioned the shorts from designer Michael Schmidt, whom she frequently collaborates with. "I like everything that sparkles, so I was just trying to think of, like, what can we do that's not crystals, because we've done a lot of it, and then I was trying to come up with like, what is the hottest short on the planet, basically," says Akerlund, who has worked with Lady Gaga, Madonna, Fergie and Kate Moss. "And then we came up with this concept of photo digitizing on top of metal mesh."

The stylist and the singer didn't have a chance to meet before the photo shoot, so Akerlund knew she was taking a chance with the shorts' fit. "I was just looking at the pictures online of like, her bum," she says, laughing. "I was just trying to figure out how she liked her shorts, and how they would end and cut."

Sweet dreams lie ahead for Jessica Alba as she heads home with a special ‘cuddle’ pillow

We now know who Jessica Alba cuddles up to at night, and it would seem it is no longer her husband, Cash Warren.

There will be no more sleepless nights for the Fantastic Four star after she treated both herself and her ever-increasing baby bump to a novel pregnancy pillow.

Dressed in a cute black dress and quirky green and black stripped platform heels, Jessica looked very content as she left a Beverly Hills department store brandishing a novel sleeping aid called the Bobby Cuddle Pillow.

But we suspect Jessica's husband Cash may well have been less than content when his beautiful wife showed him the new addition to their bedroom.

It is likely that the 29-year-old actress will be struggling to get a good night’s rest at the moment as she is expecting her second child with 31-year old Cash. But as excited as her hubby must be about the arrival of their child, it is unlikely he is as thrilled about the arrival of his wife's new bedroom accessory.

The uniquely-shaped, $30 pillow is specially made for expectant mothers who are struggling to get comfy in bed and will be an excellent form of support for Jessica over the coming weeks and months.
Sadly for her husband Cash, Jessica’s cosy new friend could drastically reduce his own chances of cuddling up to his gorgeous movie star wife.

Describing their novel product, the pillow’s American manufacturers say: ‘It is an ideal body pillow for the growing and changing shape of mom-to-be that won't take over the bed.’
It could be a cold and lonely few months for Cash if his bed is to be dominated by the green feather-stuffed mound as he still has around three months left to go before their bouncing new baby arrives.
