Avril Lavigne to rock Taiwan in May

SK8ER girl Avril Lavigne, who has become a Canadian icon in the nine years of her award-studded music career, will rock Taiwan for the fourth time this May.

Having sold over 30 million records worldwide and with her fourth album "Goodbye Lullaby" ready to hit stores on March 8, the Converse-wearing, pant-baggin' Grammy winner, singer, songwriter, and actress has cemented her position as one of the top talents in the industry.
Known for her signature gothic punk image and headstrong personality, Lavigne has been dubbed as the "anti-Britney" for her refusal to advertise her body.

She is often quoted as saying she is not in the business to sell sex and prefers to attract attention with her music.

Lavigne recently also rejected being compared to Madonna, saying "I definitely don't like to be compared to other people. Madonna is Madonna and I am totally different to her."

The 26-year-old Ontario native came to Taiwan for the first time in 2004 to take part in the Taipei Music Festival, and then performed twice more in 2005 and 2008 as part of concert tours.

Tickets for the May 13 concert held at the Nangang Exhibition Hall will go on sale at midnight on Feb. 25. (By Jenny W. Hsu) enditem/ls
